I love this “band” (it’s really just two people (Bethany Consentino and Bob Bruno)). Every now and then, a band comes along that inexplicably sounds like six or seven bands you’ve always loved melded into one. For me, Best Coast is such a band. I’m afraid to admit in such a public forum all the hours I’ve scouring the corners of the internet for demos, unreleased tracks and even cassette recordings. That’s right. Cassette recordings. After all, cassettes are the new black. If I could save time in a bottle…
Anyhow, those of you anxiously awaiting a Best Coast album need wait but a little longer. Apparently, Bethany and Bob are in the studio recording a full-length that will be out this summer (?), and they even have a single for “Something in the Way” out on Dean Spunt’s PPM records this February. That and a recent profile on ABC’s Amplified with Dan Harris? Blowin’ up.
Best Coast is currently on a brief West Coast tour with Vivian Girls. You can follow the progress of their forthcoming album on Bethany’s blog. Download “Up All Night” from their new 7″ split with Jeans Wilder here (via Gorillavsbear). Watch Nylon TV’s “Band Crush” feature below:
